Amendments made to Mahogany Award Requirements

Amendments made to Mahogany Award Requirements

Earlier this year, the Chief Commissioner approved a recommendation from the National Cub Scout Committee to amend the requirements for the Mahogany Award. The new requirements became effective on 1st March 2016.

The amendments are as follows:

  • Revision of requirement 1b which now states “A minimum of twenty-five (25) Activity Badges including Personal Safety, Home Help, Global Conservation, Local Knowledge, My Faith, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Substance Abuse and Sustainable Energy. A list of the Activity Badges gained, signed by the Leader, must be submitted.” (changes are in bold).
  • Addition of a requirement 6 which states” Participate in at least 2 District Activities and 1 National Activity during the last 12 months. Document and submit your participation, indicating the name, type and date of each activity.”

The amended requirements were included in the latest edition of the Cub Scout Programme book which has been on sale at the Scout Shop since February i.e. those which have “January 2016” printed on the cover.

A copy of the new requirements can be downloaded from the Resources page.

Those persons who have “January 2013” editions of the Cub Scout Programme, can print the requirements from the Resources page and insert it into their books – this is the only change between the two editions. (As some persons may have a problem printing the page at the correct size for the book, a copy labelled “(FS)” has been included which will print it on a letter sized sheet and they can cut it out).    (2016-05-25)
